JEROME RAWLES BROADUS

He peacefully passed away on January 22, 2014. Devoted and loving husband of Milli. He is survived by his children, sister-in-law, Helen Broadus, cousin, Elmer A. Dandridge, a number of nephews and nieces, and many other treasured relatives and friends. We will meet for a memorial service to celebrate his life on the afternoon of Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Presbyterian Church, 4001 Bel Pre Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20906. All are invited to meet with Jerry’s family at a reception immediately following the service in the Commons. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the St. Matthew Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund. Money from the Endowment is used for special projects including Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Youth Retreat Scholarships, and Vocational Education Funding. Jerry was generous with his time and stories. He was passionate helping young black professionals in the workplace and through his speaking engagements at companies like Ernst & Young. We thank God for the rich legacy he left. We will miss him dearly.

Peacefully departed on Saturday, February 22, 2014, Leo Sr. of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Alice Romanowski for 65 years; adventurous father of Leo (Peggy) Romanowski, Jr., Gail (John) Trupo, and Keith (Fidelia) Romanowski; cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Brooke, Diana, Lisa, Adam, Kristie, Brian, and Courtney; loving brother of Stanley Romanowski and Christina Marshall and 10 deceased siblings. Also survived by eight great-grandsons. Trained as a machinists mate/electronics technician, Leo served on a USN destroyer at the final WW II battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and retired with 32 years civilian federal service. Beloved wife of the late Willard George Volz; mother of Mike Volz and Nancy (Raymond) Britton; grandmother of Lars (Lucy) Volz, Kera (Charles,Jr.) Drabick and Carly Heflin (fiance Joel Parr); great grandmother of Steven, Eric and Austin Drabick, Gemma and Liam Volz, Jayme, Jr. and Cody Heflin. She was extremely close to her surviving sister, Mary “Wiggs” Witt, who was instrumental in her maintaining independence. Ginny enjoyed frequent visits and outings with her nieces Patti Volz and Jean Witt and had a special place in her heart for her nephew and godson Chris Volz. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Congregational Church, 9525 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20901, on Sunday, February 23, at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions in Ginny’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.

She is also survived by other loving family and friends. Theresa traveled to work in NYC on the Staten Island Ferry for 9 years and bragged that she had more sea time than her Navy and Merchant Marine husband. Theresa and Bob first met at a company softball game. Her interests were in church, bowling, sewing and homemaking.
